    Bio

Greg Schlotthauer
A Solo Artist from New York, New York who plays Popular music.

Here's the brief bio Greg Schlotthauer gave us:

Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Greg began playing piano at age 5 and soon after his parents discovered he had perfect pitch, from noticing that the station wagon's engine on a family vacation was inexplicably, suddenly humming at a G# on the highway, instead of a G. In high school he composed and recorded a theme song for a Hanna Barbera cartoon
("Stardancer"). At age 17, Greg was selected as the number one high school tenor in the state of Kansas. He received both piano and voice scholarship to the University of Kansas, but later changed major to Spanish as he had more of a knack and interest for "pop" music anyway. Became a featured soloist member of the prestigious octet, the University of
Kansas Jazz Singers, who toured Europe in 1988 and played with Bobby McFerrin and Bill Watrous, and performed at both the Montreaux Jazz Festival and the North Sea Jazz Festival, where James Brown was also featured. As a young adult, Greg lived in and traveled through much of Latin America, including Cuba, and was greatly influenced by Argentine pop-rock sensations, Soda Stereo, later integrating the same type of thoughtful and dreamy lyrics with powerful and sometimes hauntingly catchy
melodies in his own music, most of which is sung in his native language, English. For the past several years, Greg has lived in the heart of New York City, inspired by the excitement and diversity of the City, working with various bands including Ambulance and Band of Angels, and has contributed back-up vocals to Karen Ires' 1999 debut CD. Most recently Greg worked with producer Mike Theodore on Latin pop project "Luna Rosa"
as a featured vocalist with full writing credit on many of the album's songs. Currently Greg is writing and recording new original music in various studios and performing at various nightspots throughout New York City.
