WHAT CATEGORY DO WE PUT "THOSE #@!*&?% BEASLEYS" IN? "Sci-Fi Future-Primitive"? They certainly have a lot of 'retro' elements, but Those Beasleys ARE alternative if you REALLY know what the word means- but NOW the word "alternative" has de-evolved into a catch-phrase to indicate that the band members are all mass-market-potential hunky 20-somethings with goatees and piercings - FITTING IN TO LOOK LIKE EVERYONE ELSE - and NOT "Alternative" at ALL!!!
"THOSE BEASLEYS" ARE the REAL ALTERNATIVE to all those other middle-of-the-road, so-called "ALTERNATIVE" bands.
Rev. Spike, Tex and Fireball Beasley are all ex-public access cable tv show producers, who for YEARS offered their own take on alternative tv.
So how DO you categorize a band who include SAMPLES (quite often) and RAP (often enough) with PSYCAHDELIC sounds and crunchy ANGST GUITAR?
It's like nothing YOU'LL hear on the radio anytime soon, (and I suppose that's why you're here - searching for the REAL alternative to what's on corporate radio.)
The group is inspired by everyone from The Beatles to Soul Coughing, from Frank Zappa to Ween, from The Monkees to XTC.
If you havent guessed by now - it's about keeping your attitude, and knowing you're MORE than that, and won't completely shatter when you crack a smile or laugh! Those Beasleys want to know when it became uncool to have fun? They're songs are tough, dark, dancy, and fun. They arent afraid to have a good time, songs fondly harken back to a time when you'd strain through the bad reception to catch a glimpse of a cheesy black and white b-movie on your tv.
